– COCONUT SUGAR: It’s of course, as in the name, derived from the coconut palm tree and much healthier than regular sugars/ agave nectar/ honey since it’s more nutritious and lower on the glycemic index. Also, it contains much more nutrients than regular sugar such as Iron, Zinc, Calcium and Potassium. I love the coconut taste it has as I’m a sucker for tropical flavours so prefer it to something like xylitol. It’s simply divine to sprinkle over your porridge to sweeten it or to be used in baking as a substitute for sugar! Having said this, I am still cautious to use it every day as coconut sugar is made of 70%-80% sucrose, which is half fructose! This means that it supplies almost the same amount of fructose as regular sugar, gram for gram. So consumed in excess, can cause all sorts of problems like metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease… Not good! So in moderation and in baking, absolutely perfect but not to use in every dish!

– COCOA NIBS: One of my new favourite products no joke! Perfect to sprinkle over a smoothie, bowl of oatmeal or stack of pancakes – so multifunctional and is the best way to finish off any sweet food creation. Also a great substitute for chocolate chips if you don’t have vegan choc chips so is great for baking 👍 the taste is of course slightly more bitter than regular chocolate but I love the crunchy texture and because it’s raw, it has a really lovely earthy feel to it which is so difficult to describe but definitely recommend this product a million times over!!

– LUCUMA POWDER: The best way to sweeten up any food creation whether a smoothie, batch of pancakes or bowl of oatmeal – and you only need about 1 flat tablespoon to really taste the difference! Similar to Maca in terms of consistency and appearance but less earthy/ malty so much more to my taste buds. I use it all the time now in whatever I’m making if I don’t want to use a sweetener as the health benefits are much more advantageous compared to a natural sweetener which can cause peaks in blood sugar! So it’s totally a worthwhile purchase – you’re never going to look back 🎉 plus the pouch sizes are quite big so will last you quite a long time, unless like me you become addicted and suddenly you find yourself nearing the end of the bag 😂
